Get Involved

The Mossawa Center currently maintains three internship positions in the areas of International Advocacy, International Media and Public Relations, and Resource Development. Interns are paired with a staff mentor who provides guidance and assistance in project development and implementation. In addition, the intern coordinator meets regularly with both interns and staff to ensure maximum satisfaction.

All internship positions are full time, or 40 hours per week, for a minimum of six months. Total length of the internship and scheduling details are arranged between the Mossawa Center and the intern.


International Advocacy Intern

  • Researches new international agreements and prepares policy analysis papers
  • Maintains contacts with foreign embassies, members of foreign parliaments, and international NGOs for cooperative efforts in advocacy
  • Prepares reports for dissemination to international governmental and non-governmental bodies
  • Organizes conferences and events for international missions
  • Maintains and updates the international outreach database

International Media and Public Relations Intern
  • Daily review of domestic and international press for coverage of Palestinian community in Israel
  • Maintains and updates the international media database
  • Composes regular press releases for international media
  • Co-organizes press conferences
  • Assists in English website maintenance

Resource Development Intern
  • Interviews staff regarding project development and implementation
  • Searches for appropriate funding sources
  • Composes project reports and grant proposals
  • Maintains regular contact with project partners and international donors
  • Maintains and updates the foundation database

Organizational Support

The Mossawa Center will assist interns in finding housing in Haifa. Apartments are usually shared by Mossawa interns. Interns also receive a monthly stipend to cover food and basic living needs. Groceries can be conveniently obtained at local souks (markets) and an array of corner-stores and markets within walking distance.

Activities

Haifa is home to numerous Palestinian NGOs, many of whom also employ international interns. The intimate nature of the local community draws international interns together forming an informal support network.

In the past, interns have also found additional projects and interests in the local NGO community. Whether it is in web development, research or English language support, international interns have successfully found various niches to enhance their time in the country.

  • Flexibility
  • Willingness to learn
  • A teamwork approach
  • High proficiency in English writing
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications
Additional Strengths:
  • Previous international experience
  • Previous work experience in the above internship positions
  • Knowledge of Arabic or Hebrew language
